Palestinian Rights Activists: Muna and Mohammed El-Kurd

In the midst of all the chaos and mayhem, a Palestine brother and his sister have been seen as heroes in the fight between Israel and Palestine. The twins, Mohammed and Muna El-Kurd were arrested by the Israeli police for their significant role in the protests against the possible eviction of Palestinian families from East Jerusalem.

The twins shared a video of the injustice which they were facing as they were also facing eviction from their family home in East Jerusalem. They were seen as heroes for sharing the video to the international community to raise awareness of what was happening in East Jerusalem. The two were also viewed as brave because they knew the consequences, they would face for exposing the Israeli police force. This was an act of heroism which earned them great respect from their people. This is also evidence of the prejudice Palestinians are facing in East Jerusalem under the hand of Israel. The forceful eviction of Palestinians from their homes shows that the Israelis are still trying to take over more parts of Palestine but thanks to Mohammed and Muna El Kurd who had the courage to stand up and show the world the vile acts the Israeli government was committing in Palestine, awareness has increased. Sibling activists Mohammed and Muna El-Kurd provided the world with a window into living under occupation in East Jerusalem this spring—helping to prompt an international shift in rhetoric in regard to Israel and Palestine.

The Zimbabwe Institute of diplomacy is awarding the two brave individuals who fought and stood up for what is right and spread awareness to the rest of the world on what is happening in Sheikh Jarrah with Diplomacy and Peace Awards.
