The Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy conducted its 25th Diploma Graduation Ceremony for 30 graduates at Great Monomotapa Hotel Great Indaba Hall in Harare on 24 April 2026. The event was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps, ZID Lecturers and Staff, graduates and their family members. The occasion was to mark and celebrate the academic achievements of 25 Diploma Graduates and 30 Executive Certificate students who successfully completed the Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy in International Relations and the Executive Certificate in Diplomacy, Protocol, Grooming, Etiquette and Professional Branding.
H.E. Dr. Maha S. Kamel, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Guest of Honour, H.E. Dr Tamer Almassri, the Ambassador of Palestine and the H.E Berna Kasnakli Versteden, Ambassador of Turkiye to Zimbabwe, distinguished stakeholders, partners and Father Musekiwa, an alumnus, attended the Ceremony
In her remarks, H.E. Dr. Kamel congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of diplomacy as a bridge for cooperation, peace, and mutual understanding among nations. She also celebrated the excellent and longstanding relations between Zimbabwe and Egypt, highlighting the strong diplomatic ties and shared commitment to African unity and collaboration. She further noted the growing need for skilled diplomats in addressing global challenges and strengthening Africa’s voice on the international stage.
In his keynote address, Mr V. A. Chikanda, Founder and Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy, delivered inspiring congratulatory remarks, commending the graduates for their resilience, dedication, and commitment to excellence. He emphasized that their achievement represents far more than the completion of an academic programme; it marks a firm foundation upon which they will build future success and meaningful impact for Africa and beyond.
Mr Chikanda highlighted the evolving demands of diplomacy in a rapidly changing global environment, urging graduates to uphold integrity, professionalism, and adaptability throughout their careers. He reaffirmed that the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy is dedicated to nurturing individuals who are not only academically accomplished, but also ethically grounded and capable of making meaningful contributions to national, regional, and international development.
“This milestone is not the destination, but a stepping stone,” he remarked. “You are now ambassadors of knowledge, discipline and excellence. Continue striving to be better diplomats, better leaders and better global citizens.”
