The Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy (ZID) conducted a training programme for Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) ushers on 31 August 2026 as part of preparations for the institution’s graduation ceremony scheduled for 4 September 2026.
The training was facilitated by Ambassador Chikanda, Chairperson and Principal Lecturer at the ZID, who led a comprehensive one-day programme on Event Protocol, Professional Ushering, Grooming, and Etiquette. The session provided participants with practical knowledge and skills in professional ushering, VIP and VVIP management, grooming and deportment, seating and escorting protocol, digital etiquette, information security, event management and crisis preparedness.
Participants engaged in hands-on demonstrations and simulations that focused on welcoming, seating, and escorting dignitaries. These practical exercises enhanced coordination among the ushering, protocol, security, and media teams, helping to ensure seamless event delivery.
The training strengthened the ushers’ readiness to contribute to a smooth, dignified, and memorable graduation ceremony. It also underscored the enduring partnership between ZID and HIT, which continues to advance excellence in protocol, etiquette, and professional event management.
