GROOMING AND ETIQUETTE MENTORSHIP WORKSHOP FOR THE CITY BULAWAYO JUNIOR COUNCILLORS

It is important to note that two-thirds of the world’s population will be living in cities. Many of the Junior Councillors assume the leadership position with little or no knowledge on how to operate and therefore require professional training on Grooming, Etiquette and Leadership. It was therefore, imperative that the Institute conduct a Capacity Building and Mentorship Programme on Grooming and Etiquette for the City of Bulawayo Junior Councillors.  The Workshop was conducted on Saturday 26 August 2017 at Bulawayo City Hall.

This tailor-made Training was meant to reshape and rebrand the Junior Councilors as a force to reckon with in making the World’s endeavors become more civil and people oriented. The workshop was also aimed at giving the participants a niche on the practice and application of rules of Protocol, Formal/Social Etiquettes, Exquisite Dining Etiquette, Grooming and Deportment, Decorum in Public places, Manners Elegance, Professionalism, Mentorship for Young Leaders as well as Image and Self-projection.

A participant-centered approach was used, followed by plenary and practicum sessions on how to dine as a diplomat and on personal branding where the young leaders were taught on how to dress appropriately to show and command respect from others. The participants also familiarized themselves with Communication and Presentation skills and were coached on how to communicate effectively and confidently when introducing themselves and giving presentations in public domains. It is undoubtable that what the Bulawayo Junior City Councilors achieved inwardly will definitely change their outer reality.
