9th Diploma Graduation Ceremony

The 9th Diploma Graduation Ceremony was held on Friday 28 October at the magnificent Monomotapa Hotel. The 2016 Graduation Ceremony was a truly momentous occasion on an unprecedented scale for the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy diploma programme.

More than 20 graduates were presented to Honourable S. K Moyo, who was the Guest of Honour. Speaking at occasion, Hon. S. K Moyo urged the students to use the skills imparted to them by the Institute for the good of the country and Africa, “…you have acquired skills, go out and make a difference in your communities and the world. It is clear the future holds great opportunities. It also holds pitfalls. The trick will be to avoid the pitfalls, and seize the opportunities.”

Honourable Simon K. Moyo went on to explain the importance of diplomacy in the contemporary world. “For what is a human being without Diplomacy and Etiquette? Is nothing but a mere savage and the discipline you attained should take away the savagery and wickedness in the world; bring harmony where there is none; bring unity where there is discord and bring hope where there is despair and give you an impetus and urge to realize the dreams of our forefathers.”

Sharing their success at the graduation ceremony were friends and relatives, as well as the Ambassador of Palestine to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Taghrid Senouar and the Algerian Ambassador, His Excellency Narcedine Sai. Diplomats for Spain, Egypt and Angola were also in attendance.

Mr V. A Chikanda, the Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy also gave his remarks. He enunciated that their (graduates) achievement today was not an event but a stepping stone to their increased participation in the realization of the African Renaissance dream and their personal dreams for self – actualization as well as our collective dream of a prosperous, loving and caring Africa.

The Institute wishes the graduates the very best in their personal and professional futures.
