The Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy (ZID), led by its Chairperson, Ambassador V. A. Chikanda, alongside students of the Institute, attended the 2026 Diplomatic Charity Bazaar on 17 October 2026 at Old Georgians Sports Club in Mount Pleasant, Harare.
Organised by the Diplomatic Spouses Association of Zimbabwe (DSA) under the theme “Together We Give, Together We Grow,” the bazaar brought together 26 foreign embassies, including those of China, India, Japan, Russia, Germany, Italy, Botswana, Nigeria and the United States, among others.
The event celebrated cultural diversity through traditional cuisine, national attire, handicrafts, music, dance and cultural exhibitions, while raising funds for charitable initiatives supporting vulnerable communities across Zimbabwe.
For ZID students, the bazaar provided a valuable opportunity to engage with diverse cultures, observe cultural diplomacy in practice and appreciate the role of intercultural communication in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening international relations. The experience complemented their academic studies by connecting diplomatic theory with real-world engagement.
ZID’s participation reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to practical learning, cultural awareness and international engagement, while underscoring the importance of cultural exchange, friendship and humanitarian solidarity in building stronger relationships among nations and communities.
